Buckley and I went to see the film “Akeelah and the Bee” last night. We both loved it. It had every opportunity to be blah or hokey but, thanks mostly to great performances from Keke Palmer, Laurence Fishburne and Angela Bassett, as well as a very good director and writer, it transcended that.
